ReCatch vs. Domex & ODM
Domex and ODM are not ReCatch products – the four DomainCatcher models cover different situations. This overview clearly delineates them so you can find the right path.
| Model | Purpose | Seller status | Buyer | Pricing logic |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| ReCatch | acquisition before the drop | domain comes from Redomain | DomainCatcher users | current fixed price (25 € net) |
| Redomain | irrevocable monetization | previous holder hands over the domain | various monetization paths | share of proceeds (currently 50 % or 15 €) |
| Domex | internal domain trading | domain stays listed with the provider until sold | registered members | fixed prices of 9 to 99 € |
| ODM | public retail sale | domain stays listed with the provider until sold | the public, including non-members | free pricing |

ReCatch: buy before the domain drops
ReCatch is the acquisition of a Redomain domain on the final day before the drop – fixed price, no auction, first come, first served.
Redomain: hand over instead of deleting
Redomain is the irrevocable monetization of a domain that is no longer needed. The previous holder hands over the domain and retains only the claim to a possible share of proceeds.
Domex: the internal marketplace
Domex is the domain marketplace for registered DomainCatcher users – domainers trade among themselves at fixed prices between 9 and 99 euros net. Unlike ReCatch, the domains here come from the members' portfolios.
ODM: the public sale
The Open Domain Market (ODM) is aimed at retail customers and non-members: domains are offered publicly and without a price cap – high-priced sales are possible too.
Which path for which situation?
- You want to acquire an expiring domain before the drop: ReCatch – provided it is on the list.
- You want to get rid of an unused domain: Redomain – or sell actively via Domex/ODM, see cleaning up your portfolio.
- You want to buy cheaply from domainer portfolios: Domex.
- You want to offer a domain publicly at your own price: ODM.
