What is Redomain?
Redomain serves to monetize domains that are no longer needed: instead of simply letting a domain expire, you hand it over to Redomain on DomainCatcher.com. For a successful general monetization, a share of currently 50 % of the profit is provided. The handover is irrevocable, and there is no guarantee of sale.
The handover to Redomain is irrevocable. Once the process has started, the domain no longer belongs to you. All that remains is a possible claim to the share of proceeds applicable at the time. Monetization or a sale is not guaranteed.

Who is Redomain intended for?
For domain holders who no longer wish to renew a domain – for instance because the project has ended, ongoing portfolio costs should come down, or the idea behind the domain no longer holds. Redomain is an alternative to plain deletion: the domain gets a chance of being monetized, and you get a chance of a share. Whether Redomain is the best option in an individual case is covered on cleaning up your domain portfolio – keeping, developing, selling, redirecting and regular deletion are legitimate paths too.
Which domains can be submitted?
You can submit domains you have control over. As a rule, this requires the auth code from your current provider. If the domain is already in your DomainCatcher portfolio, you can start the release directly in the domain management area; for .de domains, the auth code can be entered directly in the Redomain process.
When does ownership end?
When the Redomain process starts. From that point on, the domain is no longer your property – all that remains is the claim to a possible share of proceeds under the rules applicable at the time. There is no right of return.
What share of proceeds is possible?
Two situations must be distinguished: for a successful general monetization, a share of currently 50 % of the profit is provided. If the domain is later acquired via ReCatch on the final RGP day, the previous holder currently receives a fixed share of 15 €. Is there a guarantee of sale?
No. There is no guarantee that a domain will be monetized or sold. If no proceeds are achieved, there is no share either.
