Redomain process
The Redomain process consists of preparation, handover and monetization. The most important step happens before submission: making sure the domain really is dispensable – because the handover is irrevocable.
Step by step
- Select the domain: Which domain should be handed over?
- Check the need: Is the domain really no longer needed – not even for redirects, subdomains or old contracts?
- Back up content: Export website data, databases and media files.
- Check email addresses and services: Do not leave any active mailboxes, logins or API keys tied to the domain.
- Check dependencies: Document and resolve trademark, customer and redirect dependencies.
- Request the auth code: From your current provider – unless the domain is already in your DomainCatcher portfolio; then the release in the domain management area is sufficient. For .de domains you can enter the auth code directly in the Redomain process.
- Submit: Submit the domain to Redomain via DomainCatcher.
- Confirm the irrevocable handover: From now on, the domain no longer belongs to you.
- Monetization: DomainCatcher tries to monetize the domain – without any guarantee.
- Share on proceeds: If proceeds are achieved, a share is paid out under the rules applicable at the time – see proceeds and share.

Important: Redomain is irrevocable
The handover to Redomain is irrevocable. Once the process has started, the domain no longer belongs to you. All that remains is a possible claim to the share of proceeds applicable at the time. Monetization or a sale is not guaranteed.
