ReCatch in three steps
- Review the list: ReCatch domains appear on DomainCatcher, usually on the day before the drop at around 06:00 (CET). All domains come from the Redomain process and are on the final day of their Redemption Grace Period.
- Check the domain: Check history, backlinks, trademark rights and running costs – our ReCatch checklist and the local domain check will help.
- Acquire it: Purchase at a fixed price of currently 25 € net directly on DomainCatcher. First come, first served applies – whoever completes the purchase first gets the domain.
Redomain in three steps
- Check the domain: Is the domain really dispensable? Go through email addresses, data, contracts and redirects with the Redomain checklist.
- Submit it: Hand it over to Redomain on DomainCatcher – usually with an auth code; for domains held in a DomainCatcher portfolio, directly via the domain management area.
- Await monetization: For a successful general monetization, a 50 % profit share is currently provided; for a later ReCatch sale, currently 15 € – there is no guarantee.
The handover to Redomain is irrevocable. Once the process has started, the domain no longer belongs to you. All that remains is a possible claim to the share of proceeds applicable at the time. Monetization or a sale is not guaranteed.
How ReCatch and Redomain interact
Both features form a cycle: a previous holder hands over a domain via Redomain, it passes through the Redemption Grace Period and is offered via ReCatch on the final day before the drop. ReCatch versus backorder
ReCatch takes place before the public drop, applies exclusively to domains from Redomain and works with a fixed price, without an auction. A classic backorder, by contrast, tries to newly register a domain at or after the drop – it remains relevant for all other RGP and drop domains.
